"our power output has significantly improved
since using MET-Rx and this has helped us consistently perform to
our physical capacity"
Mark Taylor,
head of sports science and medicine,
Bolton Wanderers FC |
|
For the past three seasons MET-Rx has been the
official nutritional partner of Bolton Wanderers FC. Mark Taylor,
the team's Head of Sports Science and Medicine says: "Everyone
at the club is a strong advocate of the MET-Rx brand and we appreciate
the benefits the products bring us. In particular, our power output
has significantly improved since using MET-Rx and this has helped
us consistently perform to our physical capacity on match days."
Every area of the team's preparation is scrutinised to ensure that
the players perform at their best on match day. Attention to nutrition
at the club has evolved dramatically over the past decade. The days
of bacon butties in the morning before training are long gone! Bolton's
strength and conditioning coach Mark Howard says: "Ensuring players
get the correct nutritional balance is hugely important. Small changes
can be crucial, and can mean an extra sprint at the end of the game
that makes all the difference. If there's no MET-Rx in the fridge
then the lads are on my back and want to know where it is." |

"We are trying to find the correct
balance between strength and stamina - any increase in weight
has to be accompanied by an increase in strength" Paul Grayson, head coach,
Northampton Saints RUFC |
|
|
The performance and conditioning team for Northampton
Saints RUFC has brought MET-Rx on board as nutritional partner. The
first team and academy squads use MET-Rx products as part of a sustained
training programme tailored to the unique requirements of each player.
According to head coach Paul Grayson: "Rugby layers have got
progressively bigger, stronger and faster during the last few years,
which means the impact in contact is that much greater so there's
a real need to be in the best possible physical condition. We are
not simply trying to get the players bigger and bigger but to find
the correct balance between strength and stamina – any increase in
weight has to be accompanied by an increase in strength."
Conditioning coach Simon Sheldon says: "Popular products with
the players include the MET-Rx Drink Mix before training as this contains
a good blend of proteins and carbohydrates and boosts energy levels,
MET-Rx Size Up to help build muscle, and MET-Rx ZMA because this aids
a good nights sleep and assists in the production of new enzymes and
hormones essential for building muscles and maintaining a healthy
metabolism." |
